Beloved Matron Is Called To Maker: Mrs. N. J. Bielenberg Succumbs to Pernicious Anaemia at Pasadena, California.
Members of Family Were Present at the End.

This community was shocked and saddened Monday morning as the word rapidly passed from neighbor to neighbor that Mrs. N. J. Bielenberg had died in Pasadena, California, at midnight. With her at the time of passing were her husband N. J. Bielenberg, who had joined her in California, six weeks ago; Claude N. Bielenberg and two daughters Mrs. W. L. Higgins and Mrs. Anne B. Bielenberg Newton of Bakersfield California. The oldest son, Howard Z. Bielenberg, who was mining near Bearmouth, was notified of his mother’s death and arrived in this city yesterday. Mrs. Bielenberg was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in 1849, her maiden name, Annie Bogk. When quite a young girl the family moved to Montana, where the father became engaged in the hotel business and was the first proprietor of the McBurney house, a famous hostelry at the time. In the spring of 1872, March 14th 1872, Miss Bogk married Nicholas J. Bielenberg, at the time a struggling young cattleman. The date of the marriage has been engraved on the memory of many, as for many years the devoted couple have always celebrated the day in the company of friends.

Mrs. N. J. Bielenberg was a pioneer of the Deer Lodge valley and of this pretty and thriving city and with her husband established a home which became famous both far and near for its openhanded hospitality. It was a beacon light to many a friend, neighbor and pioneer who always found it a pleasant place to stop for cheer and encouragement. It was an ideal home in every respect. A cheerful and happy love surround all its inmates and care for the comfort and happiness not only of the members of the immediate family but to all who happened to pass within its doors. Mrs. Bielenberg was the best of wives and she was an ideal companion of her husband. She took great delight in being with him on the ranch, at their sumer home at Rock Creek lake or his journey’s to Panama where he is heavily interested......The kind hospitality of that beautiful home has been shared by hundreds all over the state and at Trout Nook cottage at Rock Creek lake, their summer home.....

The funeral was held on Saturday at 1 p. m. from the family residence on Milwaukee Avenue and interment was made at the Hillcrest Cemetery. The business houses were closed at 12, noon, and remain closed until 2:30 p.m.2

FUNERAL OF THE LATE MRS. BIELENBERG

The last rites for the late Mrs. N. J. Bielenberg were held from the family home last Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock. Friends came from all sections of western Montana to pay their last respects to a notable woman whose memory will long remain because of the countless little charities and deeds of kindness rendered which mean so much to the most of us. Rev. E. J. Groenevard of Butte, formerly of Deer Lodge, and who for nearly 35 years has been an intimate friend of the family, officiated. There was no music, but a brief message from the beloved pastor, filled with sympathy and comfort from the family in this hour of great sorrow. The floral offerings were in such profusion that they filled the room with their beauty of sweet perfume in silent testimony of the high regard which the deceased was held as a wife, mother, sister, friend and neighbor. The burial was in Hill Crest cemetery where at the grave Rev. Groenevard cited the Twenty-third Psalm, ending with a prayer as the casket was slowly lowered to its last resting place. The funeral procession was one of the longest seen in this city for years.3
